Richmond Marathon was an amazing experience! Perfect weather, friends and family to run with, and a PR! 🍂🏃🏼♀️🏅
Compared to my first marathon, I felt all around stronger yesterday. I’m not nearly as sore as last time, and “the wall” was much less intense. I credit all of that to regular strength & #crosstraining@xtendbarreoldtown. As important as it is to log the training miles, cross-training is equally as important to ensure a strong, successful race. So happy with how marathon # 2 panned out!
With many new followers over the last few weeks, it's time to share a few things about myself you may not know!
🔸Born and raised in 🇩🇪 and came to the 🇺🇸 when I was 25 for an internship, which turned into a full time position and I decided to stay!
🔸I met my husband online! I never believed in online dating and only did it because I lost a bet with my best friend!
🔸My family means everything to me. I love being a stay at home mom to my 4.5 year old daughter
🔸I'm the youngest of 3 girls, love my sisters!
🔸Growing up I played tennis and hated running! It hurt way too much!
🔸I started running in 2007 after a drunk New Year's Eve resolution to run a 5k. I did it 3 months later and was hooked because of all the free stuff we got!
🔸Ran my first marathon in 2010 (MCM) and my 4th marathon last weekend (NYC marathon)
🔸Before I ran the NYC marathon I took a 6 year marathon break due to pregnancy and injury.
🔸LOVE chocolate, but do not like peanut butter and only drink decaf coffee
🔸My running goals are to BQ one day, run a race in all 50 states (16 so far) and finish all marathon majors (only 1)
🔸Next up: a local half marathon in December. For 2019: spring half and a fall full marathon. Hoping for Chicago, but if I don't get in, it will be Richmond.
🔸I created this account to connect with other runners and to document my running journey. Love following you all on your running journey, it's so motivating! You all are amazing!
🔸Now drop a fun fact about you!
Great day today at the #RichmondHalfMarathon! Closed out the racing season with another personal best leaving me feeling very excited and optimistic about what the 2019 race season has in store! Had big goals for this year and even bigger goals moving forward. Extremely motivated by the local running community and everyone’s commitment to working toward reaching their full potential. I’ve learned so much from following so many great runners and can’t wait to see what’s next. Congrats to everyone who achieved their goals this year and good luck to those who have yet to complete their seasons! Shout out to the crew for all the hard work! #WinterIsComing
Adventures in Richmond: @mauryland_ ended his race with severe cramping in the medical tent... But he also got to ring the PR bell! So congratulations honey! 😘
Aaaand then when we got back to the hotel, and Jenny Dog claimed his finisher blanket. Of course. That's what tiny dogs do.
One of the best photos that MarathonFoto took of me crossing the finish line of the @nycmarathon ! It shows how emotional I was at the finish line because after 11 marathons and 4 years of non-stop marathon training, I got the sub-5:30 marathon finish time that I've always wanted on my 12th marathon and at my dream marathon.

Bib-less bib pic ;-) Glad I snapped this pic at the @marinecorpsmarathon expo 2 weeks ago since I won’t get to @visitvirginia’s capital on time to pick up my own bib (merci @robertdewey41 !).
I have no time goal whatsoever for this race ! I absolutely *love* @visitrichmondva since everyone kept raving about how great #runrichmond is I jumped at the chance to spend a weekend in the #RVA and signed up for the #halfmarathon despite the quick turn around after running my first #marathon.
Anyone else racing or just getting out of town for the long weekend ?
ps: love my @runpacers@cucb shirt! Cannot wait to see who the race ambassadors for this year are!
#flashback to last year’s Richmond marathon weekend when this crew all PR’d in the half marathon 💪🏼 Tomorrow will be another big showing for the #twtraining team - 7 runners are lining up - 3 marathoners, 3 half marathoners, and 1 for the 8K 👊🏼 Can’t wait to see their hard work pay off!! 🤗 #runrichmond#richmondmarathon#fbf
One of these ankles is not like the other 😩 I haven’t run in 11 days. The day after my last long run my ankle was swollen and each step made me want to cry, I didn’t want to lift my heel at all. Posterior tibial tendinitis is no joke. While rest has made the pain better, it is not completely healed. There will be no Richmond marathon for me. I am angry, sad and disappointed to say the least. I have suffered through some of the most grueling weather this summer training, and not being able to enjoy the party at the end of it all is heartbreaking. But taking the time to recover is what I need now. There will be other races, I’m not done yet!!!! #injuriessuck#running#runnersofinstagram#runnerscommunity#richmondmarathon#runva
