We raised our kids driving up and down this road to our mountain rifugio. We rode the motorcycle up last night at sunset and it was so magnificent. This shot is about halfway up. I had forgotten its beauty. It is now paved to the top (we had a big jeep and a long treacherous, rocky haul in hairpin turns to get there back then). They were even installing a fiber optic line for internet😂 (we had no phone, heated only with the wood stove, pumped water to a cistern...). When I was pregnant my husband lit a big fire under a huge cauldron outside like a wizard to heat water for my bath. We were a stop on a trekking route and would cook for loads of people on weekends. And wash all the dishes by hand 😭We had a huge fireplace you could sit inside of on a stone bench. It snowed in during the winter and we would come down to our house in the valley. And travel...
It was hard. But it was so good. And it is so different now. How lucky I was🙏
