Carb up or nah? 🍴🥔🥞 There is a huge stigma in the realm of fitness and nutrition when it comes to the consumption of carbohydrates. Unfortunately, most of this negative feedback about carbs comes from the lack of proper research/ information, misconceptions or straight up inaccurate teaching by "trainers" or Instagram gurus. So let's dive in to see the benefits and factual information that carbohydrates offer us! 👨🏻‍⚕️🥗 Carbohydrates are an important source of fuel for our bodies in order to produce energy. Yes, carbohydrates translate to ENERGY, not immediate weight gain like everyone thinks. But I thought pre workouts and tons of caffeine gave me energy? Not quite, you're more reacting to the stimulants and vasodilators than anything and straining your adrenal system. That's an entire other post, so back to carbs.. Through the digestion process, our body brakes down carbohydrates into a more simple form of sugar, called glucose. This in return, aids in the eventual production of ATP, or our body's natural energy source, through a few more biochemical processes like the PDH cycle (pyruvate dehydrogenase cycle) and Kreb's Cycle. This is a completely natural process that occurs automatically and internally that can be hindered or limited when we suppress the system by lowering or even depleting the source by which it starts: glucose. I won't bash any fad diets out there currently (although there is no current research on the benefit of a "no carb diet"), but I will recommend you to read more into the backbone of the "new" diet out there before committing to changing your lifestyle. At the end of the day, a diet is simply a lifestyle change and I believe longevity is the end goal for us all anyways. In addition to longevity, carbohydrates are crucial for optimal performance and enhanced recovery when doing high intensity training and weightlifting. 🏋🏻🚴🏻🏃🏻 With all of that said, that doesn't mean go crazy and justify eating an entire pizza after you read this. No, bad call. It means that "good" carbs are your high octane has to your vehicle! The cleaner the source, the more efficient it can be broken down and utilized, and a much smoother ride will result!

Love starting my day with this healthful tonic water which is made by just mixing together water with a cup of pure aloe vera juice and a squeeze of half a lemon. Ever since I started drinking this every morning I've been noticing a lot of positive changes that have been benefiting me such as less stomach flare ups, immflamation, bloating, acid reflux, better digestion which indeed has been speeding the recovery from both my gastritis/ulcers. Aloe vera plant is one of the most medicinal plants that exist in the world ever since the ancient times. Some of the advantages that the aloe vera can provide include strengthening gums/teeth, healing intestines, detoxifying the body, soothes arthritis pain, protects the body from stress, prevents kidney stones, cures ulcers, reduces blood pressure, prevents candida and the list goes on.
