Hot damn! I’ve reached MRI-level injury status! WAIT. 🤪 That’s not cool. Although I’m healing, my Grade 1 strain is healing like a Grade 3 strain and we need to rule out a calf tumor (THAT CANNOT BE A REAL THING...!) or something that is an actual complication. I’m not barred from running 🏃🏻♀️ and with the help of my amazing coach, @kimnedeau, we’ll get to Chicago one way or another! 💪🏼 (📸 credit: @thedumbrunner)
“Monday, we meet again....” 😊
Did you know that in 2017, Back to Nature cared for 1,011 squirrels. This includes a small amount of southern flying squirrels, 2 Sherman’s fox squirrels and ALOT of eastern grey squirrels! 😉 Due to Hurricane Irma, 300 squirrels were rescued and brought to us within 1 week post storm. We are happy to say that a huge majority survived and were returned BACK TO NATURE. #RescueRaiseRehabRelease#Squirrel#injured and #orphaned#Floridawildlife

Today has been rather eventful.
Saw the consultant this morning, he confirmed the tear in my hip and I'm booked in for surgery to fix it in 3 weeks time.
I've had a cry, but you know what? I feel so relieved. I know what it is, I know what the fix is, I have a couple of weeks of pain, then a couple of months of rehab then I'll be back.
I'm allowed to continue to swim, cycle, gym & yoga in the meantime, just no running. So I've transferred the races I can and accepted the races I cannot, and now it's just a wait until 10th July when I go under to have my hip fixed.

So..... I went to a spin class a week or so ago. Don't think i set up the bike correctly and my knee has felt odd ever since. Brushed it off and continued going to my classes etc. Then carried a basket of washing upstairs yesterday and felt like someone had stabbed me in the knee with a very pointy stick. So now I am here alternating hot and cold packs and have packed away my gym kit for the next week. I am not happy. I am loving my classes and gym visits, but i cant bugger up my knee any more. So a week of rest it is. I may go insane.
Zelo (B.A.P) Injures + Plans For Upcoming Concerts:
On June 18, the group’s agency TS Entertainment revealed that his arm is in a cast after being injured on June 4.
Regarding plans for the group’s upcoming concerts, the statement reveals, “Although the agency made the judgment that it is too much for him to carry out around three hours of performances, he expressed strong determination to still go on stage. As a result, he will take the stage as planned at the Bangkok concert on June 23, the Taiwan concert on July 8, and the Seoul concerts on July 21 and 22.” However, parts of the choreography will be adjusted to reduce usage of his arm.
The statement continues, “We ask for the understanding of fans, and we are sincerely apologetic for causing concern. We will do our best so that Zelo’s condition does not worsen and so he can complete the performances in the best condition.”
Training Through Injury |
So 3 weeks ago I managed to severely injure my shoulder. I’m currently unable to do anything except lower body so I’ve had to rethink my workouts and get a little creative. It means lots of machines and looooots of bodyweight with high reps. Here is a little routine I put together to keep me moving:
1. Feet Elevated Squat. Hold a kettlebell in between your legs (I’ve had to go lighter than I would like, just because even holding a weight is painful right now) stand with your feet on two aerobics steps. Squat down until the kettlebell touches the floor and then drive up.
2. Bodyweight Step Ups. Push through the front leg to stand up on the box. Slowly step back down - slower the better! Repeat on the other leg.
3. Rear Foot Elevated Split Squat with Glute activation. Squat down until the knee touches the floor (I’m little so have to use a block 😂) pause at the bottom and focus on squeezing your butt as hard as you can to drive yourself back up. Thanks to @s_jones_pt for adding this absolute burning treat of an exercise into my repertoire...
4. Single Leg Hip Thrust. Lie with your shoulder blades on a bench. Lift one foot, drop your hips down, then drive them up. Squeeze that peach. Repeat with the other leg.
In total I did 4 sets of 15-20 reps on each exercise. Enjoy!
What Should You Eat When #Injured?
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
🍴The main focus of your diet when you’re injured should be on ensuring you get enough #protein to allow for muscle protein synthesis (repair&growth) at even intervals throughout the day
🔑 2g per KG of body weight per day
⏱ Every 3 hours
🥙 Focus on good quality while food sources .
⚖️ Keep your protein content on point and slightly reduce your portion size of your activity levels have dropped significantly to avoid fat gain. Don’t cut drastically- energy is needed to fuel repair!
